MICHIGAN CITY, INDIANA, August 31, 2024 – Jeremy Pine, Director of Service and Warranty Administration at Vanair®, a Lincoln Electric Company, was recognized at the Chicago White Sox Game as “Hero of the Game”.
At every home game, the Chicago White Sox honors a member of the military (active duty, retired, or veteran) during designated half-inning breaks, as part of their “Hero of the Game” tribute. Each military member is honored on the playing field and featured live on the White Sox centerfield videoboard, as the Public Address Announcer reads a brief biography regarding his or her service to the United States.
Sergeant First Class (SFC) Jeremy Pine joined the U.S. Army in 1999 at the age of 18. He enlisted as an Airborne Infantryman and served as an active-duty Soldier for 20 years. SFC Pine served in several major units over his career, to include: the 82nd Airborne, the 1st Infantry Division, the 101st Airborne Division, the 173rd Airborne Division, the Army Recruiting Command, and instructor for the Reserve Officer Training Corp (ROTC) at the University of Central Arkansas. SFC Pine held multiple duty positions over the years as an Airborne Infantryman, Long Range Reconnaissance team leader, Recruiter, ROTC Instructor, First Sergeant, and is also trained as a Special Operations Medic. He retired from the US Army in September of 2019. SFC Pine has served multiple combat deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He has earned many decorations and awards such as the Bronze Star, Meritorious service medal, and the Army Commendation Medal with Valorous Device. SFC Pine has earned numerous qualification badges to include: Jump Master, Senior Parachutist Badge, Pathfinder Badge, Air Assault Badge, the Morell Award Medallion, and both the Expert Infantry Badge and Combat Infantry Badge.
