We are currently seeking to hire an experienced R&D Lab Technician at our location in Michigan City, Indiana.
Job Summary
As a member of the engineering staff, the R&D Lab Technician supports and leads the development of new products, helps to improve current products, and focuses on innovation. The position involves hands-on fabrication, building prototype machines, and modifying components and systems.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Evaluate products and packaging to determine improvements
- Maintain, operate, and calibrate lab equipment and machinery
- Extensively document and conduct formal testing
- Ability to start and stop several projects as time and material permits
- Create standardized testing procedures
Education and Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- 10-plus years of experience in relevant manufacturing / commercial environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft and Windows-based applications, especially Excel
- Working knowledge of DC and AC electrical systems
- A “can-do” attitude and positive demeanor
- Ability to read and understand schematics and data sheets
Useful Qualifications
- Data logging experience
- Sensor wiring and troubleshooting
- Ability to weld
- Methodical troubleshooting ability
This Position Involves
- Extreme temperature environments
- Working around loud equipment
- Working with various electrical voltages, including 12 VDC, 24 VDC, 120 VAC, 240 VAC, 480 VAC
- Working with pressurized pneumatic and hydraulic circuits
- Some travel, as needed
