Vanair’s EPEQ® Electrified Power Equipment® line is a comprehensive, end-to-end, patented system, with zero emission and quiet products. The EPEQ® system makes it possible for fleets to power equipment without the need to leave the vehicle’s engine on. Although, its 48V system is not compatible with 12V vehicles. But did you know that you can use converters and inverters to combat this issue? Keep reading to learn more about how the EPEQ® System works.

ELiMENT® LiFePO4 Battery

The EPEQ® line is powered by the ELiMENT® LiFePO4 (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery. They are more stable and safer compared to other common batteries, as their failure modes do not include explosion. The LiFePO4 battery’s chemistry does weigh more compared to others. However, the cells used are large, and the cell-to-pack ratio is much higher than what would be used in a different chemical makeup. Additionally, the LiFePO4 battery’s chemistry has a longer lifespan than most competitive batteries.

Each ELiMENT® Battery comes with its own Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS constantly monitors and maintains the LiFePO4 cells inside the ELiMENT® battery. This internal BMS also communicates with our EPEQ® Smart Display as well as with other batteries. This Smart Display allows all batteries to function soon as they are connected to the system. The Smart Display also controls any CAN-enabled devices and can change their operating points, depending on battery conditions to promote optimal battery health and maximum uptime.

For example: There are only two batteries in a system, and the system has an EPEQ® AIR45 and EPEQ® EPTO. If the AIR45 is running and the user also runs the EPTO, then the EPTO will operate normally and the AIR45 will ramp down, unload, and shut off to prevent over-drawing the batteries. Once EPTO operation ceases, the AIR45 will automatically resume operation.

EPEQ® Converters and Inverters

Our 48V system needs converters and inverters to power fleets. These product solutions make it possible to increase or decrease voltage, or stay powered when you are not connected to a stationary power supply.

  • EPEQ® DC-DC Converters are used in two different ways, essentially to convert to and from automotive power systems. Currently, a converter can increase DC voltage from a vehicle’s 12V system to charge our 48V system with 95% efficiency.

  • EPEQ® AC Power Inverters power items that are normally grid connected on-the-go, so you can power your electrified equipment anywhere.
    • 120V AC power for standard wall-powered tools and devices.
    • 240V AC power for larger shop equipment and EV chargers.
